Most JVC CD receivers are compatible with both WMA (Windows Media Audio) and MP3 compressed audio formats with ID3 Version 2 tags for MP3 and WMA tags. CD-R/RW discs containing MP3 and/or WMA files burned using a personal computer can be played on the head units with equal ease. Compared to conventional CD audio, these compression technologies enable musical data to be shrunk to a fraction of their original size, allowing creation of discs that contain up to as many tunes as 20 regular CDs.
